As I was reading through the 1904 Punjab Gazatteer of the Hoshiarpur District, I came across a section on the barbarous custom of Female infanticide in nineteenth century Punjab.

I think the better translation in English is this:

Eat your sugar, do good become virtouous and send your brother instead.
