This is the ancestral village of the great singer Mohammad Rafi. His first marriage to Bashira Bibi happened here. During the riots, there was violence against Muslims and in some accounts it is written that his wife refused to remain in India after witnessing attacks on her family where her parents were killed. It also mentioned by author Dr. Ishtiaq Ahmed that several Muslim women were abducted in the village.
