In Search of another Punjab

In his seminal work on the subject of Partition, Mr. Sanwal Dhami, a contemporary Punjabi writer, has conducted numerous interviews with the older generation that remembers the pre-Partition Punjab. His interviews bring back the stories and the reality of a Punjab that existed 70 years ago. In this particular speech, he talks about the people who lost everything in 1947.

The most important part of his work is that he is bringing the stories of the ordinary Punjabis who suffered during that period. Most often we read books about the political leaders who were involved in the Partition but rarely we see an opportunity to hear from the ordinary people and experience the pain that they suffered during that time.
